Focus Timely is built around a simple idea: your focus data is yours. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we don't, and the choices you have.

The short version

Who we are

Focus Timely ("we", "us") is operated by Focus Timely, based in Sydney, Australia. You can reach us any time at hello@focustimely.com.

Guest mode — data stays on your device

You can use Focus Timely without an account. In guest mode, all your data — sessions, tasks, notes, categories, settings, and history — is stored locally in your browser (using localStorage). It never leaves your device and is never sent to us or anyone else.

Because it lives in your browser, clearing your browser data will remove it. The app has an Export option in Settings that saves everything to a JSON file you control.

Accounts & authentication

When you create an account, you sign in with either:

Authentication is handled by Supabase (our database and auth provider). We store your email address, and for Google sign-in, the basic profile info listed above.

Data stored with an account

When you're signed in, your focus data — tasks, sessions, notes, categories, and settings — syncs to our servers so it's available across your devices. This data is stored in a Supabase-hosted Postgres database and is isolated to your account using row-level security (other users cannot access your data).

If you later delete your account, this data is removed from our servers within 30 days, except where we're legally required to retain it (see Retention & deletion below).

Payments

Pro subscriptions are billed through Stripe. When you subscribe, Stripe collects and processes your payment details directly — we never see or store your card number. We store a Stripe customer ID and your subscription status so we know which features to unlock.

You can read how Stripe handles payment data in the Stripe Privacy Policy.

Emailed reports (Pro, optional)

Pro users can opt in to periodic email reports summarising their focus activity. If you enable this:

Each report email includes a one-click unsubscribe link for that cadence. You can also toggle reports off in Settings at any time.

Analytics & cookies

On the website (not the app), we use Google Analytics, loaded via Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors find and use the site — which pages are read, roughly where traffic comes from, and what's working. This helps us improve the product.

We run this with consent first. When you first visit, analytics and any advertising-related storage are switched off by default. Nothing is measured until you choose Accept on the cookie banner. If you Decline, no analytics cookies are set and no usage data is collected.

If you accept, Google may set cookies to measure your visit. The data Google processes can include pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic device and browser information. We use Google's tools for measurement only; we do not currently run advertising campaigns. You can read how Google handles this data in the Google Privacy Policy.

One small note: your consent choice itself is remembered using local storage in your browser (a flag, not a tracking cookie) so we don't ask you on every visit.

Changing your cookie choice

You can withdraw or change your consent at any time. Resetting it here will clear your saved choice — the next time you visit the site, the banner will appear again so you can decide afresh.

Sub-processors

We keep the list of third parties who process your data deliberately short:

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it with advertising networks or data brokers.

Retention & deletion

You can export your data at any time — JSON backup from Settings, or CSV/XLSX from the Reports screen. If you delete your account, we remove your data from our servers within 30 days, except where Australian law requires us to retain certain records (for example, billing records). Stripe retains its own payment records according to its policies.

Guest-mode data lives only in your browser and is deleted when you clear your browser data.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. If you're in the EU or UK, you may have additional rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR — including the right to data portability, restriction of processing, and lodging a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@focustimely.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Children

Focus Timely isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page as the product evolves and post the new date at the top. For material changes, we'll notify account holders by email or in-app notice before the changes take effect.
